-Gemma continues to add to her vocabary almost daily and has begun to put two words together. She says airplane, sky, leg, toes, head, door, puppy, kitty, Rose (one of her carers in creche), mommy car, daddy car, see ya, and others. We really need to watch what we say in front of her now! One evening we were giving her a bath, and Paul said 'bollocks'. Gemma immediately came out with something that sounded an awful lot like it!
-We have made the transition to one nap all of the time. It's been a little rough, and we've had some cranky days (combined with teething!), but I think we're almost used to it.
-Gemma now has 14 teeth- her upper cuspids have come through, and the lower ones are nearly through. That will leave just the set of second molars to come.
-Gemma can feed herself quite well with a spoon, and she has had a great appetite the past few days. Her favorite foods continue to be cheese and bananas.
-There is now an obsession with airplanes in our house! We live near a small airfield, and when we were playing outside on Tuesday, a few planes flew overhead, and Gemma was enthralled. Now she gets very upset if there isn't an airplane in the sky whenever we're out. The moment we're outside, all we hear is 'airplane, sky'! Paul took her up near the airport this morning, and they watched planes land and take off for an hour. She loved it! I wonder how she'll react when we get on an airplane on Friday! Gemma and I are going to MN for 2 1/2 weeks!
-Gemma is 34 1/4 inches tall and weighs
30 pounds, 7 ounces according to our measurements. That puts her between the 90 and 95 percentiles for height and above the 95 percentile for weight. She's just starting to outgrow some of her 2 year/2T/24 month clothes, so we'll be shopping for clothes in MN!
-Gemma can walk up and down stairs holding one of our hands.
-Books continue to be a favorite, along with Barney. Gemma really likes songs and dancing too. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, The Wheels on the Bus, and Itsy Bitsy Spider are her favorites. Today when we were in a store she stopped in the middle of an aisle to dance to the overhead music, and a lot of mornings when I start the car to go to creche, she starts dancing in her car seat when the radio comes on.
-Gemma likes things a certain way- doors closed, garbage in the bin, etc. I wonder who she gets that from?!?
-She loves other kids, and she continues to give everyone at creche hugs and kisses before we go. There are about 6 stuffed animals that get kisses before bedtime, and sometimes even the animal pictures on the wall have to have kisses! Gemma is a sweet little girl!
-Gemma struggles with wanting to be independent and do things herself, but not quite being able to do it. I see this most mornings with her socks. She tries to put them on herself, but can't quite get them on, so she gets mad and throws them. I can imagine it's frustrating really wanting to do something but not being able.
We are so thankful for our sweet, smart, independent little girl!
