Two And A Half!

I'm a bit late with this post, as Gemma turned 2 1/2 on February 10th. She proudly says, "I'm two and a half" when asked how old she is, and she's already talking about her next birthday! Here's what Gemma's up to at 2.5!

- I feel like the past 6 months have been all about language development. She is such a little chatterbox, and we have quite in depth conversations! One of my favourites is when I say something, then she replies, "Actually..."  Another of my favourites is that she doesn't say "too" (as in, in addition to), she says "as well". It's hilarious! She repeats everything and lets everyone know what we're up to!

- Gemma loves music. A few times she's gotten on her toy car or picked up one of her bags, as if she's going to leave the house. I ask her where she's going, and she says she's going to work. I ask her what she does for work, and she says, "I sing and dance!"  We've enrolled her in a once a week Kindermusik class, which she loves, and she's always singing something!

- The Disney movie, Frozen, is one of her favourite things right now, and those songs are often what she's singing. She continues to enjoy Barney and Peppa Pig too.

- Her imagination is showing more and more with her toys- she loves to cook in her kitchen and have picnics, play doctor with her check up centre, put her princesses to bed in their castle (on their tummies, since this is how Gemma sleeps!), and be a mommy to her babies.

- Gemma still loves her books. She got 'The Gruffalo' for Christmas, and she can recite large parts of it nearly word for word!

- Gemma can name most of the basic shapes- circle, square, triangle, oval, heart, and star.

- She continues to be a tall girl! I don't have any exact recent measurements, but she is taller than all of the other kids her age in creche, and her 3 year trousers are getting a bit short. Her spring clothes will definitely be size 4T/4 years!

- Gemma got all of her 2 year molars in the past couple of months, so she has her complete set of baby teeth now!

- She still loves her time in her bed (which is still her crib- she's made no attempts at escaping, so I'm not going to push anything!). She usually goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 and wakes up around 7 the next morning. She takes an afternoon nap around 1pm for 1-2 hours.

- Gemma has expressed some interest in wearing pants (underwear) on certain days, and we have started using the potty a bit. It's very early days though!

- She is great at saying 'please' and 'thank you', but at times her lack of listening makes us want to pull our hair out! Overall she is a sweet little girl- quick to kiss 'owies' and give hugs and kisses.

Here are some recent photos!

We had a very small layer of snow when we woke up this past Tuesday morning, so we quickly made a very tiny snowman, who Gemma named Olaf, before it all melted!
