Unfortunately Margo headed out shortly after breakfast :( My flight wasn't until 8:40pm, so I had some time on my hands. I checked out of the hotel and left my luggage with them, then got the subway to St. Paul's Chapel. The chapel is the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan and miraculously didn't even have a broken window after 9/11, despite being right across from the WTC. The building served as a place of rest and refuge for the recovery workers, and there are lots of moving photos and stories on display.
I did a bit more shopping at Century 21 (got some great bargains!), got lunch, and was on the subway back up to the hotel when I got a text to say that my flight was going to be delayed. There were seats available on the 5:30pm flight though. I went back to the hotel, made all the phone calls to rearrange my flight and cab, then was off to JFK. I got there in plenty of time and slept most of the flight back. We were the only flight in the arrivals hall at 4am! Paul collected me, we were back at our place by 4:45, and I got about 3 more hours of sleep before Gemma was up. It was so great to see her!
I am so thankful for a wonderful getaway and quality time with my sister. Thanks to Paul and his mom for looking after Gemma to make it possible!
