More snuggling with Mom!

We had a few visitors during this past week, which has been great!  Last Friday and Saturday Auntie Marie and Uncle Brian came down for a visit, then later on Saturday, Owen and Alisha stopped by to meet Gemma.  On Sunday Mike and Amy had us over for a BBQ, so we got to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine.  Gran Bridget came to stay Monday to Wednesday and let Mom and Dad get a full night's sleep- it was great!  And, Jean stopped by to say hello earlier this evening.

Gemma is quite a content little girl, and only really cries if she is really hungry or getting changed.  For the most part she feeds every 3-4 hours, although in the evenings she tends to eat nearly continually.  We had a few issues with spitting up, but we've switched bottles, and this has improved a lot.  The ones we were using originally were just a bit too fast for her.  She has a great appetite though- sometimes she eats 4 to 6 ounces at a time!  Earlier today she got her BCG vaccine- a vaccine for Tuberculosis that is given here.  She did great- only a little crying, but it was tough on Mom and Dad to see her in distress!  It's hard to imagine life without our little Gemma now.  Paul and I often just stare in awe at her and talk about how perfect she is!

Tomorrow the 'Emerald Isle Classic' is being played here in Dublin at the Aviva Stadium- it's a football game between Notre Dame and Navy.  Over 35,000 Americans are in town for the game, and there are a lot of events around it- parades, pep rallies, etc.  Paul was able to get a pair of tickets for us to see the game (which has been sold out for ages), so Marie and Brian are coming down to take care of Gemma for the afternoon.  It will be great, but I'm going to miss my little girl!

Daddy's Little Girl

Even though Gemma's little finger is tiny, I think it's safe to say that her Daddy is securely wrapped around it!

Visitors at Home

This past Sunday afternoon Mike and Amy stopped by for a visit.

And, on Sunday evening, Sean and Jean visited.

Natasha stopped by Monday evening.

And, later Monday evening, Gemma got to watch her first Manchester United match with Dad, Sean, and Dermot.

First Outings

On Saturday night, a business networking group that Paul is in had a barbeque at a nearby restaurant, so we made it out for an hour to that- Gemma didn't even wake up once!  On Sunday morning we went out to breakfast at the Tea Rooms in Lucan.  It's a friendly spot that Paul and I often go for Sunday breakfast, so the staff were admiring our little girl!

After breakfast we went to a nearby hotel where they were having a "Baby Bay Market"- it was like a garage sale, but only baby items.  People brought their stuff into the ballroom of the hotel, and everyone got a table to sell their gear.  I looked around and got some pink items while Paul and Gemma relaxed in the hotel lobby with the Sunday paper.

On Monday after our weight check with the nurse, to celebrate Gemma's weight gain, we headed to Starbuck's to get Mom and Dad some caffeine!

First time in the swing!

Gemma was awake this past Saturday when Paul and I were just about to eat our lunch, so she got to try out her swing for the first time.  She was very content in it!

One Week!

Here's Gemma last Friday, August 17th, at one week old!  Seriously, how can another week have passed already?
