27 Weeks

According to some resources, I've entered the third trimester now, and I think I'm going to go with those, because I definitely feel the third trimester symptoms now! Everything seems just a little bit more difficult- walking, breathing, sleeping. In fact, sleeping hasn't been great at all. Pain in my upper back and hips starts sometime overnight, and I'm usually tossing and turning by 4 am. I had a doctor appointment on Thursday, and she referred me to the physio department in the hospital, so hopefully I can get some relief. All in all though, I am very thankful for how smoothly my pregnancy has been going. And, it will all be so worth it!

At my appointment, my doctor did a quick ultrasound, and baby is weighing about 2 pounds, and from the length of the femur bone, is measuring at 27 1/2 weeks. I don't know where he/she got the above average height! All of my and the baby's vitals are good, so I won't have another appointment for four weeks.

What a difference 4 weeks makes! I was wearing this same shirt in the 23 week photo, and bump has grown significantly since then!

24 Weeks

While we were on our cruise, I hit week 24.  Baby is moving like crazy, and the kicks/punches can be seen from the outside now.  It is such a wonderful feeling.  Everything is feeling a little "fuller" now- sometimes I feel a bit short of breath, and last night I had my first ever experience of heartburn.  I'm hoping it was after overindulging on the vacation and it won't happen too much more!  Now that we're back from our "Babymoon" it's time to start getting everything organized a bit more- the office needs to be cleared out, we'll need to make a trip to Ikea for furniture, then work on getting everything put away in baby's room.  I have a feeling the next little over three months is going to go very quickly!

Mediterranean Cruise

Paul and I returned yesterday after a wonderful week cruising the Mediterranean Sea.  We started off from and returned to Civitavecchia, Italy (near Rome), and stopped in Messina (Sicily), Kusadasi/Ephesus (Turkey), Athens (Greece), and Chania (Crete).  We enjoyed sunshine, warmth, relaxation, sightseeing, and eating way too much!  My favorite stop was Turkey- great sights, nice shops, and friendly people.  Here's some pics from the week!
Paul just after we boarded our ship, The Navigator of the Seas

Our first stop- Messina Sicily
The Church of the Annunziata dei Catalani

The bell tower of the Cathedral of Messina
At 12:00 everyday the statues move and music plays

After dinner on formal night at one of our favorite spots on the ship-
the bar on the 14th deck

Our second stop- Kusadasi/Ephesus, Turkey
This is where Mary, the mother of Jesus, is believed to have lived
the last years of her life, near Ephesus

The Library of Celsus, Ephesus

Shops in Kusadasi- beautiful rugs

The 14th deck bar again!

Next stop, Athens, Greece
Looking up at the Acropolis

The Parthenon on the Acropolis

Our last stop- Chania, Crete

On the hop-on, hop-off tour bus in Chania

Mini-golf on the ship.  I won by a stroke!

23 Weeks!

The past few weeks, I've been beginning to feel movement, and the past two weeks it's become stronger and more frequent. What an amazing feeling! The times I've felt the most movement were after eating ice cream, chocolate cake, and carrot cake (separate occasions- not all at once!), so baby must have a sweet tooth! Earlier this week, Paul was able to feel the movement a bit too, so that has been fun. All in all I'm still feeling really well, and the prenatal yoga I'm doing is great. Here's a belly shot from earlier today:

The past week we've been busy getting ready for our 'Babymoon' vacation. We leave on a week long Mediterranean cruise early Sunday morning, and we can't wait for some R&R!

Another Scan!

On Tuesday evening I had another doctor's appointment, and this included an in-depth ultrasound that looked at all of baby's systems. Everything looks great. We got to see the four chambers of the heart, a profile of the face, he/she moving his/her foot up and down, and more. At one point we were told to look away- obviously when she was looking at the gender. It was a little tempting to look, but the surprise on the day he/she is born will be worth the wait.

We also found out that my due date has been moved up a few days- to August 24th, so I'm actually 23 weeks pregnant today!

Mike and Amy's Wedding

A week ago today, Paul's cousin, Mike, got married to Amy in a beautiful ceremony in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim.  The reception was held nearby in Kilronan Castle in County Roscommon.  Paul was a groomsman, and we had a great weekend celebrating with friends and family.  I surprised myself by staying awake until nearly 3:30 in the morning the night of the wedding!
